Grounded in the liberal arts tradition, academic advising at Linfield College is an intentional, collaborative teaching and learning process between advisors and students to facilitate student engagement and responsibility for their educational goals. Based in teaching and learning, academic advising incorporates both intentional interactions with a curriculum, pedagogy, and a set of student learning outcomes and informal interactions within the Linfield community. Academic advising integrates students’ academic and co-curricular experiences within the framework of their aspirations and abilities in order to extend learning beyond the boundaries of students’ educational experience at Linfield.
Linfield students receive personalized academic advising from their faculty advisors. The Office of Academic Advising provides the framework, resources and information to support quality academic advising by coordinating faculty advising efforts, fostering effective academic advising practices, and delivering new student programs for first-year and transfer students. The office also provides advising for special populations of students.
