Linfield College is an independent, comprehensive undergraduate institution, nationally recognized for its strong teaching faculty, outstanding academic programs and distinctive international emphasis. Linfield’s challenging and exciting academic programs feature a broad liberal arts core and an atmosphere in which there is genuine concern for individuals.
Linfield is one of the oldest colleges on the west coast and was chartered in 1858. The college has been accredited since 1922 and is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA.

McMinnville Campus
The main Linfield campus covers 193 acres in McMinnville, Oregon and has 1700 students. This traditional residential campus offers students opportunities to connect learning, life and a sense of community through classroom, residential and student life experiences.

Portland Campus
The Portland Campus, home of the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing, was established in 1982 through a partnership agreement with Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical center, now part of Legacy Health Systems. The transfer-only campus has 350 students and offers majors in nursing, health sciences and environmental studies.

Division of Continuing Education
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) administers an Adult Degree Program, making bachelor’s degrees available to working adults through traditional and online classes. Advisors in Albany, Astoria, Bend, Coos Bay, Eugene, McMinnville, Portland and Salem serve over 500 students. The DCE program offers majors in accounting, arts and humanities, business information systems, nursing, international business, management, social and behavioral sciences.

The Liberal Arts
Students in all three programs complete a liberal arts curriculum. The purpose of the general education requirement, called the Linfield Curriculum, is to foster the development of wholly-educated persons by providing a coherent experience spanning the arts and humanities, natural sciences, and social-behavioral sciences. The Linfield Curriculum encourages inquiry, analysis, and imagination, habits of mind that provide the foundation for reasoned action, wonder, and continued learning in all aspects of life.

International Programs
Linfield College is dedicated to international study and more than half of Linfield graduates study abroad during their college years. Opportunities for international study are offered through three options: academic year abroad for language majors; semester programs at sites in Austria, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, France, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Mexico and Norway; and January term, an optional four-week intensive term that offers international and domestic location-based courses led by Linfield faculty members.

January Term
Linfield offers a 4-1-4 academic calendar with two semesters (Fall and Spring) and an optional four-week intensive-study term in January. Students may choose from a variety of on-campus or travel courses led by a Linfield faculty member. January term is designed to foster global awareness, develop insights into major issues of our time, and deepen understanding of American society. It offers participants unique opportunities for innovative learning experiences beyond the standard curriculum.
Experiential Learning
Linfield is dedicated to a vision of learning that celebrates both the theoretical and practical. Experiential learning opportunities are available through field-based activities, service learning and volunteer activities, collaborative learning, off-campus learning and a peer instruction program.
