What to Pack

Residence hall and roommate assignments will be mailed by early August. The Office of Residence Life strongly recommends contacting your roommate over the summer to introduce yourself and decide on what each of you will bring for your residence hall room.

Highly recommended:

  • Sheets, blankets, pillows (standard twin)
  • Foam eggshell of mattress pad (standard twin)
  • Towel
  • Toiletries
  • Shower caddy and shower shoes/sandals
  • Power strips (no extension cords)
  • Desk lamp (no halogen lamps)
  • Alarm clock
  • Wastebasket
  • Storage and organizing units
  • Hangers
  • Laundry basket and laundry soap
  • Office supplies
  • First aid kit
  • Posters and photos
  • Sticky tack for posters
  • Calendar/planner

Other popular items:

  • Computer and printer (either Mac or PC)
  • Ethernet cord (available at the Linfield College bookstore)
  • Mini refrigerator – no larger than 4.0 cubic feet or over 3.0 amps, 120 volt, AC only
  • Small microwave
  • TV
  • DVD player
  • Stereo/digital music player
  • Dry-erase board (to put up on your door)
  • Fan (small window fans work best)
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Wall clock

Do not bring:

  • Candles
  • Halogen lamps
  • Sun lamps
  • Decorative lights (Christmas lights, neon lights, etc.)
  • Air conditioners
  • Pets (except aquarium fish)
  • Hot plates
  • Weapons, including airsoft guns

Sustainability
