Fall Orientation and Freshman Colloquium

It all starts on August 22nd

Fall Orientation at Linfield College is a four-day program from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25 (Check the Orientation website for the official dates). This website will help prepare you for the start of the school year. Our Orientation program includes activities that will assist you with academic planning, give you time to settle into your residence hall or campus apartment (if you live on campus), help you meet people, and orient you to the college and the McMinnville community. Your Orientation packet will be sent to you in late spring and information will also be available online.

Freshman Colloquium begins

Your Orientation materials will include a copy of the summer common reading book for Colloquium. Colloquium is a one-credit course for all first-year students and it covers everything from the summer common reading to academic planning. Throughout the Colloquium program, you’ll have both a faculty and peer advisor who will teach, support and guide you through your transition to college life. Learn more about Colloquium.

Calling all fall athletes!

Arrive the third week of August

If you’re planning to participate in a varsity fall sport with an early arrival date – football, soccer, volleyball, cross country or cheerleading – you’ll need to arrive on campus about a week before Fall Orientation (that’s the third week in August). You’ll receive detailed information from the coaches once you’ve confirmed plans to try out for a team.

Just for transfer students:

Fall Connections

If you're a transfer student enrolling in the fall, we invite you to the Transfer Transitions Program, similar to the freshman orientation weekend. A part of the offerings is Fall Connections, a program designed to introduce you to the Linfield College community and other new transfer students. You'll learn about academic advising, how to navigate the Linfield system and ways to get involved on campus.

Starting spring semester?

Spring Connections, like Fall Connections, is a program designed to introduce you to the Linfield community. Spring Connections kicks off Spring Orientation with a welcome day in February and will help you adjust to life at Linfield. It’s led by a faculty advisor and peer advisor and will help you connect with professors and fellow students, plan your education, learn about academic advising and discover the many resources on campus. You’ll also make new friends in the process.
