Mahaffey Hall
Mahaffey Hall (Formerly South Hall) opened in 1994 as Linfield's first new residence hall in almost 30 years and has all the conveniences of a new building, yet still maintains the traditional look of Linfield. It was designed to replace several temporary apartments. This three-story coeducational living unit houses 100 students, most of them freshmen. In the Fall of 2003 the name Mahaffey Hall was given to this building in honor of Dr. Roy D. "Hap" Mahaffey, member of the class of 1928 and professor of speech from 1928 until 1970. This building includes lounge areas, a kitchen, bike storage and a large patio overlooking the softball field. It is the only dorm with an elevator. Mahaffey is divided into male- and female-wings. Halls in close proximity include Anderson, Elkinton, Frerichs, Hewitt, Memorial and Terrell. Each room in Mahaffey is hooked up to the campus computer network, including internet, e-mail, and voice mail.
The most recent renovation made was to Mahaffey's lounge. A new lounge with a TV has been made, which is located closer to the main entry way. The older lounge is currently being used for Residence Life's offices.
