Frerichs Hall
Frerichs Hall was built in 1968. It honors William R. Frerichs, professor of German from 1912 to 1948. At various times, Professor Frerichs served as the college librarian, editor of the college publications, acting president, and dean of faculty. This the second "Frerichs Hall." The first was the fine arts building for 22 years before it burned down in December of 1969. Today, it is a coeducational, substance-free community that focuses on students' positive choices regarding well-being of the body, mind and spirit. The 42 members of this community make a pledge to live without the first- and second-hand effects of substance use. Frerichs Hall residents have been recognized for their service in the community and for outstanding programming. Each room in Frerichs is connected to the campus computer network, including internet, e-mail, and voice mail.

“I feel I have a better sense of the world, I acquired a better ability to learn, a better understanding of other people. I have just gained a better sense of the rhythm of life.”
Andrew Thron, Linfield Alumni '05
