Observatory

image of location

The Observatory was built in 1893-94 at a cost of $2,500. It contained a six-inch refracting telescope which was a gift from the A.W. Kinney Estate. He was a member of the College's Board of Trustees between 1874 and 1879. The Observatory moved to its current location in 1964. The Observatory, facing possible demolition with the campus expansion, has instead been renovated and turned into a convenience store for students in the Hewlett Packard Park apartments. Any other student can just as easily use their meal points to purchase the various food items and other goods.

“The faculty that I’ve met made me want to stay here. They helped me realize I can take on a challenging major because they’re really supportive. ”
