What was most valuable about the study abroad experience? I studied abroad in Ireland the spring of my junior year. I had such an amazing experience. I was able to travel independently and really experience a completely different lifestyle from my own.

What has made Linfield College a valuable experience for you? I have only been here for about a year and a month, however, I’ve already learned so much. Every day I think about how lucky I am to be here at Linfield. It has definitely been such a great experience and to me, Linfield is doing a good job of setting me up for the future.

If you could take any professor to coffee, who would you take and why? Quite honestly, I haven’t had or met any professor I wouldn’t want to take to coffee! Every professor I have gotten to know here at Linfield has been extremely engaging.

What has been something about your Linfield experience that has really surprised you? I was surprised during my first day of classes to learn that chemistry wasn’t going to be a lecture class. The classes on campus are all unique, and you won’t know what they are like until you try them.

How would you describe Linfield students? I think the best way to describe a Linfield student is that they are passionate about something. Whether their passion is a certain academic subject, a social cause, a hobby, or a sport, I have found that Linfield students are great because each has a passion that they constantly pursue, making Linfield a great place to be.

What has made Linfield College a valuable experience for you? I’ve been stretched mentally, learned to think in ways I hadn’t before, and improved my skills in the subjects most important to me. I’ve also learned to be independent. I can live on my own, take care of myself and make responsible decisions. I don’t need someone holding my hand the entire way, I can take charge and be my own person.

Why did you choose to come to Linfield College? I wanted to be known as Whitney, not a number. I choose Linfield because of the Staff/Student ratio. Classes are small and professors are always willing to help if I have any questions regarding the class work.
