Admission Requirements - Freshman
There is no minimum GPA or SAT/ACT requirement for admission. The Linfield College Admission and Financial Aid Committee grants admission to students who are likely to grow and succeed in a personal and challenging liberal arts environment. Priority for admission, scholarships, financial aid and housing will be given to students who meet the priority application deadlines. Opportunities for enrollment of applicants not meeting the priority dates will be dependent on space availability and financial aid funding.
Each applicant is evaluated on individual merit including high school academic performance, writing sample, letters of recommendation, and pre-college test results. Because participation in extracurricular activities is important at Linfield, the depth and quality of an applicant’s involvement in community and school activities is also evaluated.
The best preparation for college is a solid academic foundation in high school. Linfield College strongly recommends that applicants have taken the following:
| English | 4 years |
| Social Sciences | 3-4 years |
| Mathematics | 4 years |
| Natural Sciences | 3-4 years |
| Foreign Language | 2-4 years |
2009 Freshmen academic averages (mid-50%)
GPA: 3.36-3.88
SAT: 990-1200 (critical reading, math)
ACT: 21-27
