Morgan: Greek Week!

greekweek

Operation Gratitude

The week of April 13-18 was GREEK WEEK here on campus!

Every sorority was paired up with a fraternity to complete in all of the greek week activities.

Here are the pairings:

    • Alpha Phi (my sorority) & Theta Chi
    • Phi Sigma Sigma & Delta Psi Delta
    • Zeta Tau Alpha & Kappa Sigma
    • Sigma Kappa Phi & Pi Kappa Alpha

The theme of Greek Week this year was “decades”! If teams dressed up as a decade to each event they were given bonus points!

Greek week started Sunday, April 13th with a greek-wide service event. All greek organizations gathered on 3rd street, downtown McMinnville. We raised money, collected care packages and asked people to write letters for Operation Gratitude. All of the donations we received went to our troops who are serving over-seas. We raised over $1,600! Alpha Phi & Theta Chi raised the most money out of all the greek organizations which put us in the lead!

Monday was field event day! The events included human pyramid building, Frisbee toss, orange necking, balancing an egg on a spoon and chubby bunny (try to stuff as many marshmallows in your mouth as possible). Sigma Kappa Phi & Pi Kappa Alpha came in first in the field event games and Alpha Phi & Theta Chi came in second. However, in overall greek week standings, Alpha Phi & Theta Chi were still in the lead. Zeta Tau Alpha & Kappa Sigma were in third and Phi Sigma Sigma & Delta Psi Delta were in fourth.

Wednesday was trivia day! Each team chose one boy and one girl to answer a series of trivia questions! Alpha Phi & Theta Chi came in first place, furthering our overall greek-week lead!

Alpha Phi & Theta Chi – GREEK WEEK CHAMPIONS!

Thursday was dodge ball! It was double elimination dodge ball! Alpha Phi & Theta Chi won against Zeta Tau Alpha & Kappa Sigma and then we went onto beat Phi Sigma Sigma & Delta Psi Delta. We then won against Sigma Kappa Phi & Pi Kappa Alpha. Sigma & Pike then played Phi Sig & Delta to see who would play us again for the championship. Sigma & Pike beat Phi Sig & Delta and played us in the championship round. Alpha Phi & Theta Chi beat them again, making us the dodge ball champs and put us in a significant lead over everyone else in greek week.

Saturday was Lip Sync. This is the biggest event of greek week and the one that everyone looks forward to! Each team came up with a playlist of songs that were cut down to 15-30 second bits. In between the music there was dialogue. The whole thing was choreographed and went along with the decades theme!

Sigma Kappa Phi & Pi Kappa Alpha came in first in Lip Sync, Zeta Tau Alpha & Kappa Sigma came in second, Alpha Phi & Theta Chi came in third and Phi Sigma Sigma & Delta Psi Delta came in fourth.

Alpha Phi & Theta Chi had the most overall points and were the champions of greek week!!

Greek week is by far the best week of the year, and I highly recommend for incoming students to GO GREEK! No matter what school you attend :)

I hope to see you soon!
