Isabella: Being Undecided

Hi!

My name is Isabella and I am a freshman here at Linfield College. I grew up in Santa Cruz, California and I am proud to say that I am undecided when it comes to figuring out my Major.

When I first came to Linfield I was under the impression that I would graduate with a degree in Biology, on my path to becoming a Marine Biologist. I had picked up that idea back in eighth grade when I had to read an autobiography for my science class, but I don’t know anything else about Marine Biology besides what I read in that book. That being said, my first semester as a college freshman was an eye opener. I realized right away that Biology was definitely not for me. I had a great teacher, and the class was taught well, but I found that I just wasn’t interested in Biology.

Since that discovery, I have learned that it is okay to be undecided. As a college freshman you don’t have to know what you want to major in, or even what to do with the rest of your life. We have time to figure that out! My best advice to those of you who are undecided, or aren’t entirely sure of your intended major, is to take classes that sound interesting to you. That’s what I did this semester and I love the classes that I am currently taking (two of which are Financial Accounting and Principles of Economics).

I decided to include a photo I took last week, so you can see the campus through my eyes, and how beautiful it was when there was a layer of snow covering it.

Until next time,

Isabella

I took this picture of TJ Day Hall last Tuesday, as I was walking to class in the morning admiring the snow that covered the ground.
