We are now in week two of classes and this is Academic Affairs Weekly Issue #4. We hope everyone is settling into a routine. Over the summer Academic Affairs continued to move forward on the implementation of the strategic plan, and we want to provide a few highlights that may be of particular interest to faculty and that will be prominent this year. The First Year Experience group is already circulating articles and will be meeting in the near future to continue developing our first year experience. We have started the work of addressing DCE. We are working to streamline a number of areas, from conversations about the Registrar's office and recordkeeping to more functional approaches and more efficient practices in Learning Support Services (see Issue #3 for details) and Academic Affairs; for example, this weekly newsletter. In future issues we will include updates on these and other areas, including our efforts to make the process of recruiting and enrolling transfer students more seamless, preparation for the upcoming faculty retreat, and continuing work on faculty load reallocation.
We continue to be interested in your thoughts for ways to improve this weekly.
As of August 27, all schedule changes require signatures from the instructor and advisor. The online add/drop forms are routed electronically for the required signatures. Students wishing to add a DCE course should fill out and submit the DCE registration form (with their advisor's signature) to the DCE office in Malthus Hall.
Friday, September 6 is the last day to add a class.
Friday, September 13 is the last day to drop a class with no record.
Seniors must submit their Intent to Graduate form to the Registrar's Office as soon as possible. After students submit their form, they will receive a Graduation Status Review, which requires signatures indicating approval from the advisor and chair(s) of their major and minor departments.
