Betty Hamilton Sundie. I was here from 1938 and graduated in '42.

Well there's one homecoming that I particularly remember and that was our 45th. And our class gave a scholarship to Linfield, and it was 12 thousand dollars, and it's now valued at 75. Isn't that remarkable? I was really pleased. So I was the lucky one that was asked to present the scholarship. My roommate and I were the two that got it going.

And sooo It was the year that the professional football teams were having a strike, and the Linfield quarterback, was going to be a substitute quarterback for the Seahawks. And so, it was during the half time at that football game that we made the presentation to Dr. Walker.

And, umm, I said, 'In his wildest dreams, I don't suppose' and I couldn't remember the name of the quaterback now, but I did then, aaah, 'thought he would ever be quarterbacking the Seahawks?' And you know, the band picked up on that, and tooted and, and drummed, and all of that, and Dr. Walker said, 'They're listening to you.'

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. And I was so pleased. So then I said, 'In my wildest dreams I never thought I would do anything significant on the football field here'. Ha ha ha. 'But' Ha ha ha 'We are presenting a scholarship'. Ha ha ha. Yeah, so I was really delighted with what happened with the band that day. Ha ha.
